The Code turns 40 years old!

On May the 21st 2021, the BFLG secretariat joined over a thousand delegates worldwide in celebrating the 40th birthday of the WHO Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes at an online conference hosted by the Global Breastfeeding Collective.

The agenda covered:

  • The achievement of the Code in its first 40 years,

  • How the baby food industry marketing practices influence feeding decisions and public health,

  • How governments enforce legislation to protect against these marketing practices,

  • Tools and strategies for strengthening the Code and subsequent resolutions in years to come.
